Homework
Homework packets will be sent home in students’ Homework Folders every Monday. The first page of the packet will be an assignment sheet that clearly explains each night’s activities. Students will have reading and math homework each night. The assignment sheet also includes the week’s spelling words, so that students can prepare at home for their spelling test on Friday. Homework should take students approximately 30 minutes each night. Homework packets are due Fridays, and should be returned to school in Homework Folders.
In addition to assigned homework each night, students are always encouraged to practice reading and math skills on their own. The papers inside students’ Homework Folders have suggestions for activities to help students with each subject area. Independent reading is a powerful way to build reading skills. Practicing basic math facts can give students a big advantage when it comes to solving more complex math problems. There are a number of apps and websites that have free learning games for students to play. Some can be found on our class Symbaloo page.
